Special Membership Meeting this Sunday, December 4, 2016

Greetings and Blessings!

In accordance with the by-laws, there will be a special meeting of the membership of “The Talmud Torah of West New York and Guttenberg” also known as “Shaare Zedek” and as “The Jewish Community Center of West New York” (henceforth referred to as the “organization”) this Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 2:00 pm promptly.

As our building is currently closed, the meeting will take place at:
Bnos Sanz of Union City, 3300 New York Avenue, Union City, NJ 07087.
(Please note: due to the park blocking 33rd Street at New York Avenue, it’s necessary to come down 33rd street from Palisade Avenue. The building is on the right the end of 33rd Street, behind the park.)

The purpose of this meeting is:

1)     To update the membership on the status of the organization and to bring to light recent happenings within the organization.

2)     To elect new officers.

3)     To discuss plans for the future of the organization, which include in part: fixing the building, renewing services on a steady basis, organizing events, establishing classes, and rejuvenating the aims and purposes of the organization as set forth in the by-laws.

4)     To address issues regarding:

    a)     safeguarding and securing the organization’s funds and property.
    b)     stopping the erosion of, and making repairs to the organization’s building.
    c)     establishing a solid future for and maximizing the potential of the organization’s historic building.

5)     Any other business to discuss.

It has been a number of years since a meeting has been held, and it is necessary to hold a meeting to fix the breaches and put the organization on firm footing.

In the past few years we have seen an influx of Jewish young professionals to the organization’s area, and this is expected to continue to grow in the upcoming years. As the only remaining Jewish Orthodox congregation serving the areas of West New York, Guttenberg, Weehawken, and North Bergen, it is necessary to rejuvenate the organization to properly serve the Jewish community of these areas. The vision of the founders and supporters of the organization was and remains to establish a permanent Orthodox Jewish community organization for future generations; as the founding documents say: “The organization has been founded as an Jewish Orthodox Institution, and shall always remain as such…” We will, with the help of G-d, bring this vision forward.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting, and look forward to rejuvenating the organization with your help and support.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Dovid B. Kaplan, Rabbi
David Babani, President
Duved Strobel, Vice President
